Peptides

Peptide therapy is a cutting-edge tool. You can use them to optimize your health, slow the aging process, and reduce inflammation. Learning new ways to target and use peptides, polypeptides and proteins helps you move away from disease and towards better health.

What is a peptide?

Peptides are present in every cell of the human body. Your body naturally produces peptides, but as you age, production slows down, and levels decline. Peptides are signaling agents or hormones and have very precise, specific functions. The way we apply those functions to supplement or amplify the body’s internal processes makes peptide therapy such an exciting new development in optimizing health.

Are peptides similar to steroids?

Although peptides have become the frontier of biohacking, with peptide supplements offered via injection, sprays, creams, and pills by medical professionals, they are not steroids. Peptides are 100% legal. However, they are banned from competitive athletic sports due to the possibility of unfair advantage.

What’s an example of a peptide?

One peptide many people are familiar with is insulin.  Insulin is a 51 amino acid peptide and was the first to be sequenced successfully outside the body.

How are peptides administered?

Most peptides, like insulin, are injected into a patient’s body with tiny needles. But some are used as nasal sprays, topical creams, foams, and capsules.

What medical conditions do peptides treat?

Peptides are very cutting-edge technology and are being used safely and effectively to help people in many different ways; some examples include:

  • Weight loss
  • Increased energy
  • Improved muscle mass • Musculoskeletal repair,
  • Painful joints, muscles, and spine
  • Arthritis
  • Reduced inflammation • Improved cognitive function
  • Improved exercise recovery
  • Improved libido
  • Better sexual function
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Better sleep
  • Better mental health and mood
  • Increased testosterone levels
  • Hair growth
  • Better skin quality
  • Improved digestive function
  • Age reversal! (Yes!)

How fast can I see results?

Your results are dependent on many factors.  First, you truly only want to take peptides under the supervision of a medical practitioner as a part of a larger weight management plan. The first thing to do is to manage your diet and cook your food to control your eating. It’s been said that great abs are made in the kitchen, and the same is true of our overall health: it all starts with what’s on your fork. As exciting and effective as peptide therapy can be, it’s no magic wand.

Compared to steroids and testosterone, touted for their fast benefits (and potential side effects), peptides won’t turn you into the Hulk overnight. Peptides are more of a “slow burn” supplement to enhance your healthy lifestyle but are not meant to replace time at the gym.  While peptides can help you burn fat while you eat, socialize, and even sleep, you must combine them with other lifestyle factors over several months to see the best results. In other words, you still have to eat right and get proper exercise!

Side effects

For healthy individuals, peptide supplements are unlikely to cause serious side effects because they are similar to the peptides present in everyday foods. As with any treatment, it’s always wise to exercise caution and coordinate treatment plans with your PCP or NP.  No studies have shown peptides to have any carcinogenic effects; however, if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, you could be at risk of adverse effects or interactions with other medications. peptides are not a quick fix; they don’t replace good nutrition, sleep, stress management, or fitness.

If you want to upgrade your health, consider adding peptide therapies to your routine.
